Strengthening European efforts in Cyber Capacity Building

Enhancing cybersecurity capacity building is quickly becoming a priority for governments, international organisations and private sector.
While the demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals continues to accelerate, organizations are struggling to find the right talent to fill jobs.

In the current era, emerging technologies and the explosion of enterprise data is becoming an inherent strength enabling more experimentation and faster result which can boost performance and productivity for organisations across Europe. At the same time, Europeans have set high standards for digital privacy and security as the new EU Cybersecurity Act came into force last June 2019.

Cybersecurity Day 2019

The Cybersecurity Day is organized by the CNR Cyber Lab during the Internet festival in Pisa.

The event showed the latest developments to the cybersecurityosservatorio.it as well as hosting several talks and panels from representatives from research, industry and government to discuss information sharing and analytics as well as the interplay between research and innovation.

The innovative European Security Certification Framework

In recent years the ICT market has evolved toward a cloud-based approach. This shift together with the rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape has heavily impacted security assurance, governance and compliance. The growth of cloud services poses challenges to both cloud users and cloud service providers (CSPs). Potential customers are prevented from adopting cloud services due to concerns about transparency, security and privacy, as well as confusion over the plethora of certification schemes.

SECONDO and European Cyber Security Challenge 2019

The event “EuropeanCyber Security Challenge 2019” took place in 30/9/2019 in University of Piraeus. Christos Xenakis presented the SECONDO project, its goals and its impact on the security companies.

Technologies like smart metering, integration with IoT or high-responsive grid switching and management systems are key aspects of reducing emissions and ensuring maximum efficiency for customers.

Celebrating Researchers’ Night in Athens

On Friday 27th of September researchers from University of Piraeus demonstrated the SECONDO project in Researchers’ Night in Athens. During the presentation the researchers had a fruitful discussion with promising students and visitors. SECONDO attracted many visitors who asked questions about its impact and its implementation, the researchers explained how it works and how SMEs will gain benefit from its installation.

Europeans have set high standards for cybersecurity and digital privacy. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), introduced in May 2018, provides new rules to give citizens more control over their personal data, and a competitive edge to compliant business. The National and Information Security (NIS) Directive on the other hand, is the cornerstone of the EU’s cybersecurity architecture. It provides legal measures to boost the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU.
