SCOTT - Service Offer 2018

Date:
01/05/2017 to 30/06/2020

Introduction

Creating trust in wireless solutions and increasing their social acceptance are major challenges to achieve the full potential of the Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, SCOTT – Secure COnnected Trustable Things, a pan-European effort with 57 key partners from 12 countries (EU and Brazil), will provide comprehensive cost-efficient solutions of wireless, end-to-end secure, trustworthy connectivity and interoperability (Technology Readiness Level 6-7) to bridge the last mile to market implementation.

SCOTT will not just deal with ‚things that are connected‘, but with ‚trustable things that securely communicate‘, i.e. things interconnected by dependable wireless technology and valuing the end-users‘ privacy rules.

Who is the project designed for?

The excellent partner consortium of SCOTT facilitates comprehensive vertical integration in different areas, covering the full value chain from silicon to end-users and operators. By providing reference implementations, SCOTT aims at establishing an eco-system for trustable wireless solutions and services for both professional and private users by attracting 3rd parties and particularly SMEs.

This together with the involvement of open innovation approaches and stakeholder engagement as well as close cooperation with AIOTI, the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation, and other cluster organizations all over Europe will further boost and exploit the growing “Internet economy”.

How is your project benefitting the end-user?

Secure Connected Trustable Things will provide comprehensive cost-efficient solutions of wireless, end-to-end secure, trustworthy connectivity and interoperability to bridge the last mile to market implementation. SCOTT will not deal with just ‚things that are connected‘, but ‚trustable things that are connected‘, i.e. things interconnected by dependable wireless technology and valuing the end-users‘ privacy rules.

SCOTT bundles the European key players from several industrial domains including building and home / smart infrastructure, automotive, aeronautics, rail, and health to make full potential of cross-domain synergies and to strengthen Europe’s position in the emerging technology field of secure IoT.

SCOTT aims to extend the Internet of Things for wirelessly connected smart sensors and actuators to be used in building & home / smart infrastructure, mobility, health domains while ensuring safety and security, privacy and trustability.

Please briefly describe the results your project achieved so far

In the first year of the project, requirements and specifications for the different industrial use cases but also for the technology lines (safety & security, distributed cloud integration, autonomy of devices / energy efficiency of WSN, reference architecture / reference implementations) were created, and the implementation work has started. Moreover, a first version of the SCOTT “Framework for building trustable systems” has been released.

What are the next steps for your project?

As next steps, the development of industrial use cases and technology lines will be driven further. First demonstrators will become available soon. In addition, the SCOTT “Framework for building trustable systems” will be refined and enhanced.
