IUNO - National Reference Project for IT Security in Industry 4.0

Date:
01/01/2015 to 31/12/2018

Introduction:

The complex topic of Industry 4.0 is divided into four application scenarios in the project, which together form a representative picture of the challenges involved in the networking of industrial plants.

The application scenarios are located in the areas of remote maintenance of production facilities, networked visual production control centers, trading platforms for production data and goods produced on the basis of individual customer requirements. In the latter application scenario highly flexible production lines are researched on the example of fitted kitchens. The production of individualized pieces of furniture, from order to delivery, is a typical Industrie 4.0 production landscape that needs to be exemplarily protected against cyber attacks. In the process, the concept of an "intelligent workpiece" is pursued, the path of which is automatically coordinated and traversed through the production line with production equipment.

Through a cross-project requirement analysis, a uniform overall picture of Industry 4.0 is developed. Peculiarities and similarities are highlighted in the four application scenarios for IT security. This is followed by a needs-based development and demonstration of suitable solutions for each application. Finally, the IT security tools and models specified in the application scenarios are summarized and, if possible, abstracted. These represent a national reference implementation for IT security solutions in Industry 4.0.
